MTA Launches New Overnight Bus Route Going From Midwood to the Upper West Side

Meet the MTA’s newest bus route: the B99.

The new local bus route was launched on June 28 to mitigate for the loss of overnight subway and express bus service. It begins at the Brooklyn Junction at the corner of Flatbush and Nostrand Avenues and ends by Columbus Circle in Manhattan, at the corner of W 58th Street and Broadway. The service will be overnight-only.

“We’re implementing the B99 bus route to get you between Midwood, Brooklyn and Columbus Circle during overnight hours,” reads the MTA’s website. “It will operate every 20 minutes from approximately, 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. every night.”

While June 28 marks the birth of this new Midwood bus line, it also marks the end of overnight service for a number of other routes, including the BM3 which runs along Midwood and into Manhattan. Also affected are the BxM1, BxM2, BxM11, QM6, X28 and X68. Due to low ridership, those routes will not be operating between 1 and 5 a.m.
