For the second day in a row, a partial power outage has occurred on some of Midwood’s densest blocks.
On July 21, a partial outage beginning in the afternoon and restored in the morning affected many buildings on Ocean Ave between Kings Highway and Avenue N. This is one of the densest parts of Midwood as it is one of the only streets with zoning that allows for large apartment buildings.
A second power outage has occurred on July 22, seemingly affecting the same block. According to ConEd’s website, it is currently affecting over 500 customers. Power is expected to be restored before 6 a.m.
I am monitoring a large power outage impacting parts of Midwood and Gravesend. I’ve been in touch with Con Edison and crews are working to resolve the issue. Restoration is expected within the next several hours.
